Suspension and Shock Absorbers

Your suspension system is responsible for steering stability, braking response, handling and comfort. Basically, it serves to absorb bumps and other imperfections and to maximise the amount of friction taking place between the tyres and the road.

As the suspension system consists of multiple components, and acts as the pathway for power transfer and direction control on the road, preventative maintenance is the key to keeping your vehicle under control.

The suspension system has to withstand a lot of stress, so things can fail. Amongst other things, if you notice any of the following you should have your suspension system checked:

  • Bumpy or shaky ride

  • Tyres have unusual wear patterns

  • Vehicle looks uneven or not level

  • Stiffness or poor steering response

  • Instability when braking

  • Swaying when turning or changing lanes
